College basketball playoffs are upon us, and you’ve probably already been filling out your bracket. I know I have a few ideas about who I think will win it all… but when it comes to college basketball season, I also know it’s time for plenty of watch parties as you cheer on your team. Luckily, I’ve got a walking taco bar that will feed everyone, without a ton of effort, plus some tips to make your watch party the one that guests will be talking about for years to come!
When it comes time to host a party, I head to Walmart to make sure I have everything I need from food, to decorations, to, well… Advil! It seems like parties lead to a lot of things, like headaches, and Advil is a great way to keep your head in the game.
When you get home, it’s time to get started on your game day food. One of the reasons that I love Walking Tacos is that they’re self-contained (which means washing dishes is a thing of the past), and they allow everyone to get up on their feet to cheer and get excited. Plus, everyone can customize their own, so there’s no arguing or wondering if this tastes like what you’d like… to start, just brown hamburger meat, then season it with taco seasoning according to package directions.
Buy single-serve bags of chips and put them on the table, or buy larger sizes and fill lunch sacks partially with chips so people can grab their favorite as the base to their walking taco!
After cooking and setting up a party, my back starts to really ache, so I reach for the Advil Liqui-Gels, which, when taken according to the package directions, really help alleviate that back pain from hosting and cooking, and help me get through the entire game.
A variety of toppings on your table makes a great option for giving your guests everything they need to make their Walking Tacos unique. I always like to include meat, a variety of salsas and queso options, shredded cheese, fresh ingredients like lettuce, tomatoes, and jalapenos, and often times, other options like beans or sour cream.
Pick a color scheme for your decor to represent your favorite team’s colors, or keep it generic with basketball orange if you’ve got a lot of fans on both sides of the debate. When setting up, use bowls and cups in your chosen color scheme, and for an easy, affordable backdrop, pick up some crepe paper and tape strands of it to the wall, giving it a slight twist before taping at the bottom.
When your guests are ready to eat, just let them go through the bar and load up their walking tacos with their favorite toppings… I like mine pretty loaded, but my brother is a big fan of just cheese, meat, and onions.
Of course, you don’t want to forget a sweet treat for the food bar, too! One easy option is to just make cupcakes from a mix, tint the frosting basketball orange, and top with orange sprinkles and basketball decorations. Rooting for a certain team? Use team colors for the frosting and sprinkles instead!
Advil doesn’t just help with the back pain you may have from cooking or hosting a party… it’s also really helpful for when you kind of tweak something during a pick up game outside during half time, or when you get a headache from all of the cheering during the watch party, too! Nothing’s stronger, longer lasting or better on your tough aches and pains than Advil*. When you have it on hand, you can be ready for anything, making sure that you’re really focused on the game, your guests, and enjoying the party, rather than worrying about your aches, pains, and headaches. The last thing you want is for your focus to be on your pain so you can’t enjoy the great moments you’re having right then and there.
