You know what’s great? An impressive dessert that wows pretty much everyone at your party… without any cooking at all. That’s what’s so perfect about these Monster Mash Pudding Shots… they’re so pretty, so spooky, and perfect for your Halloween party, without any actual effort. I promise– if you can use a spoon, you can make these awesome treats for your Halloween bash!
This recipe (which is totally kid-friendly, by the way) isn’t even really a recipe at all– it’s a combination of simple ingredients in a super tasty pairing, with a few sprinkles for fun. It’s just like those adorable mini desserts you can get at restaurants– just the perfect single-serve size that delights your taste buds. Start with tall shot glasses, some food coloring, thin cookies of your choice, and light colored pudding in any flavor you think will compliment the cookies– for this, I used chocolate cookies with vanilla pudding.
To rim your glass with sprinkles, begin by gently dipping the top edge in pudding, then dipping it into the sprinkles and moving it around just enough for sprinkles to cover the pudding.
This makes for an adorable garnish– at this point, you could totally put whatever you want inside and your guests would adore the sprinkles, I swear! But to go for the full effect, it’s worth making the tasty dessert.
Crush cookies into a fine crumble. You can use your hands for this, the rolling pin in a bag technique, a food processor, really anything. I use about 1 cookie per person I’m serving.
Next, tint your pudding cups to the desired color– I’ve found 2 pudding cups serve about 6 people. I tinted one green with 2 green drops and 1 yellow, and the other cup purple using 2 purple gel food coloring drops.
Can I just say how much I love purple and green as Halloween colors? I feel like they just POP so much more than orange and black!
To finish up the pudding shots, sprinkle a layer of cookie in the bottom of the glass, then pipe on some pudding. You could always spoon it on, but I don’t trust myself to keep it off of the sides of the glass– a disposable piping bag or a zipper bag with the corner cut off will work perfectly!
Alternate layers of cookies and pudding, and alternate colors of pudding, until you reach the top of the glass.
And there it is– a perfectly portioned, super easy-to-make, very impressive dessert that everyone will love! Plus, with it being kid-friendly and party-ready, it’ll be a hit for Halloween!
But… if you’re not wanting to serve this at Halloween, it’s SO easy to customize to any theme. Make it your team’s colors, your party theme’s colors, your favorite colors– anything goes! Try red and green at Christmas time, or Indigo and Sporting Blue for the next Sporting KC soccer game. If there’s a food coloring for it, you can make it, which makes this an incredibly versatile dessert that will take you season-to-season. Just switch up your colors and sprinkles and you’re all set!
What colors would you make these fun pudding shots? Let me know in the comments below!
