I am so excited. My little man is totally into superheros, and as a mom, that’s definitely something I can get behind. I mean, think about it– Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner… every superhero needs a great backstory, and that’s why I couldn’t resist throwing a great party to celebrate the release of MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron! If you’re looking for the perfect Halloween party idea, you’ll love this one.

First, we stopped by Walmart and picked up everything we needed to throw a perfect theme party. The Halloween section had some really affordable Avengers and Spider-man costumes for Halloween and dress up– they were a great price, which definitely allowed us to stock up for all of our Halloween events and for the coming year, because who doesn’t love dressing up just for fun? We also stopped by the electronics section to pick up a copy of MARVEL: The Avengers: Age of Ultron, because what’s a great theme party without watching the movie it’s themed after, am I right?

For this theme party, I considered what The Avengers might bring to a party. I decided Black Widow would go theme-y and bring Black Widow Black Bean Dip. Now, this black bean dip is SUPER easy… combine two cans of refried black beans, a package of cheddar cheese, a package of cream cheese, and a can of drained diced tomatoes and peppers, then bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

While your Black Widow Black Bean Dip is cooking, you can get started on Hawkeye’s Arrow Grape Pops.

Have you ever noticed how Hawkeye’s arrows are a little bit purple? Start with some purple or red grapes, and stick them on lollipop or cake pop sticks. Make sure they are completely dry, then tint some melted white chocolate purple. Carefully dip grapes into the purple chocolate, then into purple sprinkles, and let dry before serving.

If Hawkeye can bring arrows for party guests to enjoy, it’s definitely up to Captain America to bring a shield– a shield of treats, that is! Take your favorite dip tray and fill the center with your favorite fruit dip, tinted blue. I like a mixture of cream cheese and whipped topping, with a little blue food coloring and sprinkles. Pair with red and white foods, like strawberries and marshmallows, or add sliced apples. Did you know every apple contains a Captain America shield inside? If you slice apples horizontally, you’ll see a star in the middle with white and red, just like Captain America’s shield! (And yes, you can totally use this trick to get your kids to eat fruit!)

Hulk Smash punch takes no effort at all– simply scoop lime sherbet into a punch bowl, and pour your favorite lemon lime soda over the top, stirring gently to give it a little froth. If you REALLY want to pack a punch for your MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron party, rim glasses with popping candy!

One of the best things is that MARVEL already has some great snacks in your local Walmart store, like granola bars, grapes, and string cheese. These are perfect party foods that help you stay on-theme with minimal effort!

Make sure your guests have time to snag some snacks before you settle in to watch the movie, and encourage everyone to come in costume, dressed like their favorite Avenger!

With affordable costumes and effortless recipes, you don’t have to spend a ton or put a lot of effort into a party that everyone will remember! Trust me, with these ideas, you’ll be the Hero of Halloween for sure!

Besides, I have it on good authority that Captain America loves Hawkeye Arrow grape pops!

Who can blame him? These are so fun! You can even get out your favorite toy boy and arrow set, or make your own fun arrow or dart set, to test your Hawkeye skill and see if you have what it takes to be a superhero.

For another fun game, see if you can lift Mjolnir! We wrapped a bucket in gold tissue paper, then filled it with various sizes of hand weights to make it heavy, but not too heavy, for party guests to test their strength! Whoever can lift the most weight is definitely the winner, but anyone who can lift Mjolnir is a hero in my book!

 

The thing is, Halloween is the lead-in to a really exciting, but really stressful season of planning parties and making sure you have the menu and decor just right. Don’t let Halloween stress you out, too– choose recipes that only take a few minutes to prep, like the ones I’ve shared, and make sure you can get all of your items at a one-stop-shop like Walmart, which has everything from on-theme party food to DVD/BluRay of the hottest new releases like MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron, to costumes at affordable prices.
