I love a little glitter. Okay, I love a lot of glitter… there’s never enough sparkle in life, is there? With Christmas parties in full swing and New Years’ Eve coming up, I had to come up with a way to really make my party plans sparkle. And today, I’m sharing three of those ideas with you, plus some ideas to add a little extra pep to your sparkling water this season!

When it comes to a good party, I think the worst thing is getting confused as to which drink is yours. It’s happened to me a few too many times, which is why I love this simple trick to making sure everyone can tell their drinks apart. All you need is some large, chunky sequins and spiral paperclips. Simply tug at the paperclip to open it up a bit and spiral it around the base of your champagne glass. Next, secure the sequin to the glass by threading the paperclip through the hole in the sequin. Ensure each of your guests gets a different color, and boom– no more confused drinks during the night! I love it because they’re so shimmery, can easily be removed, and can be customized to fit the color scheme and theme of your party (provided you have enough colors for each of your guests). Or, simply write each guest’s name on the sequin using a permanent marker for even less chance of a mix-up!

But there are slightly more permanent ways to customize and add a little sparkle to your sparkling glasses… one way I like adding this shimmer is to do it in an incredibly subtle way. All you need is a little bit of paint with glitter in it. Simply carefully paint it onto the base of your glass (upside down) and let it dry. Once it’s had about 12-24 hours to dry, you’re all set to flip it right-side-up and fill with a beverage that’s equally sparkly!

There’s just something fun about a little bit of shimmer and sparkle. I like that it’s whimsical, and because these are a little bit subtle, they’ll just have that POP that glasses out-of-the-box don’t quite have.

If subtle shimmer isn’t your thing, you can always go for full-on sparkle. Choose a slightly more opaque paint in your favorite tone, and glitter to match the paint. Paint it on the top side of the glass base, steering clear from any areas that might actually touch your beverage or mouth– this isn’t food safe, but if you keep it to the base of the glass, it won’t pose a hazard. While the paint is still wet, sprinkle on a little bit– or a lot– of loose glitter. It’ll stick to the glass. You can spray a top coat or adhesive on to set it in place to keep it there a little longer, or leave it as is, letting it dry for several hours before handling.

Honestly, I love these fun glasses for New Years’ Eve, but also for just enjoying at any party, because they add a little extra special shine to the event.
