I cannot believe that it’s time for back to school shopping already, but it is. School is just around the corner, and I have to admit, I’m so not prepared. I mean, as moms, we can go through the supply checklist and make sure we have everything, we can get all of the super cute back to school clothes for our kiddos, and we can even input all of the important dates into our digital calendars, but really, there’s always this certain degree of “I’m SO not ready” that I feel when it comes to back to school… can you relate? So, when shopping for back to school supplies, I had to make sure that I was ready for back-to-school, too.
When it comes time for back to school shopping, we have to look out for our own needs as moms, too. After all, we don’t come with a back-to-school supply list, do we? So, grab your favorite mom bag (I dig a backpack), and let’s get packing!
First up, a mom bag is not complete without some spare pens. I cannot tell you how many times my son has needed to borrow a pen or pencil and I don’t have one, or the number of times I’ve gone to the store with a list and… no pen to cross anything off with. I just end up wandering the aisles dazed and confused, hoping I got everything. Now, I try not to leave the house without at least 2 or 3 pens stashed in my bag.
Next, grab a hairbrush and wrap some hair ties around it. It doesn’t matter what your day entails, one of the worst possible things would be trying to do it and having your hair tie snap. Now, you may suggest I get better hair ties, but trust me, I have tried them all, and the best thing I can do in this situation is to just keep some spares with me at all times, along with a hairbrush. Keeping one in your bag means you can tame your kids’ manes if they get out the door without brushing their hair before school, or that you can do a quick touch up in the car if your tresses are totally not playing nice… so, add this one to the bag, too!
Leave it to the pickup and drop off lane to give you a terrible headache… I homeschool, and I don’t even want to think about the madness that the pickup and drop off lane entails– yikes! I will say that on days when I’m taking my kiddo on a field trip, I’m bound to get a headache at some point or another… or a backache, or a whatever-ache. To play it safe, it’s best to stash a small bottle of your favorite OTC relief in your bag so it’s handy when you need it.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten out of the house and thought “Oh my gosh, did I put deodorant on?” Maybe I’m just terrible at mornings (I am), or maybe I’m generally rushed to get anywhere, but there are some days when I have that “oh no” kind of moment. When that happens, it’s nice knowing that I have an extra stick of deodorant stashed in my bag. Maybe you’re on top of things in the morning and don’t forget, but I can guarantee you’ve probably had one of those moments where you just need a little… well, refresher. Grab one of these, stick it in your bag, and you’re good to go.
Finally, you’ll want to make sure you have a little sustenance on hand. Seriously, I get super cranky when I haven’t eaten lately, so I love these grab-n-go LALA® Yogurt Smoothies. I just keep them in the fridge and grab one as I run out the door, pairing it with a handful of nuts. The LALA® Yogurt Smoothies have 5 grams of protein while the NEW LALA® healthies™ Curb Yogurt Smoothies have 10 grams of protein. They are a really great way to drink up and feel a tiny bit less cranky from forgetting breakfast or needing an afternoon snack. The LALA® Yogurt Smoothies are made with real fruit, so I feel really good about drinking them.
I just picked mine up in the yogurt section of my local Walmart store– there are a lot of different varieties out there so you can pick the perfect flavor for your life! Use Ibotta when you shop to earn cash back on your purchase.
It seems like as the kiddo gets older, we’re always on the go– practices, school stuff, field trips, and more, and because we’re on the go, I love having a portable treat like the LALA® Yogurt Smoothies to enjoy on the way. My life is too on-the-go to have time to make smoothies every day, so instead, I just toss one of these in my bag.
Just pair your favorite LALA® Yogurt Smoothie or LALA® healthies™ Curb Yogurt Smoothie with your favorite nuts, and you’ve got something that’ll keep you powered up and ready to go. My favorite pair is probably the LALA® Yogurt Smoothie in Wild Strawberry paired with Pecans– yum!
While you’ll need to keep these refrigerated until you’re ready to go, they are super portable and conveniently packaged, so you can totally just grab one on your way out the door. I try to keep pre-packaged nuts on hand to pair with it, because it’s just a great boost during the day!
