Zach and I absolutely love to have movie nights sometimes before bedtime. We’ll curl up under covers and pop in a flick we love, make popcorn, and cuddle while we enjoy the show. And, like every other family with kids, we’ve been watching Frozen. A lot. Like maybe a little too much. I thought our Frozen movie nights deserved an equally frosty treat, which is why I came up with this Frozen-inspired frosty popcorn crunch that’s easy to make and really peps up popcorn for movie night. Because Monday is national popcorn day, there’s even more of a reason to enjoy this wintery popcorn treat!
You’ll want popcorn and popping oil, some mini marshmallows, salt and sugar (I use raw sugar and sea salt for a larger grain), white chocolate, sprinkles, and Sixlets. The thing I love about Sixlets is they come in all kinds of great colors. I picked out silver ones for this popcorn because it’s nice and wintery feeling, but you can pick any color you love!
Start by popping your popcorn as usual, then spread the popped popcorn in a single layer on a cookie sheet.
Go ahead and sprinkle your popcorn with marshmallows (snowballs) and the Sixlets (which could be princessy pearls or ice crystals, your choice!) and sprinkle salt and sugar over the mixture.
Melt white chocolate in a microwave-safe dish, then drizzle it over the popcorn crunch mixture, topping with sprinkles. I loved these sprinkles from Wilton, which reminded me of Anna and Elsa’s dresses from Frozen! Wait until the white chocolate solidifies and then break into pieces to serve and enjoy.
It’s so easy and delicious!
- 1 Serving Popcorn with Popcorn Oil
- 1 teaspoon salt (sea salt works well)
- 1 teaspoon sugar (raw sugar works well)
- 1/3 package Sixlets (silver or blue)
- 1/4 Cup mini marshmallows
- 1/6 Cup white chocolate morsels
- Sprinkles, to taste
- Pop corn according to package directions.
- Spread out in a single layer on a cookie sheet, then sprinkle with marshmallows, Sixlets, sugar, and salt.
- Melt white chocolate, then drizzle popcorn.
- Add sprinkles while white chocolate is still a little wet.
- Let white chocolate dry thoroughly, then break apart and enjoy.
